Job: Technical Manager 

Location: West Midlands

Job Purpose

Support the Head of Technical in managing site quality, safety, and compliance systems. Ensure all products meet legal, customer, and company standards while driving continuous improvement and leading the QA team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System and HACCP plan.
  • Ensure products meet legal, customer, and company quality standards.
  • Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Set and monitor QA and compliance objectives to meet business goals.
  • Develop, implement, and review technical and quality procedures.
  • Oversee testing, auditing, and documentation to verify product compliance.
  • Analyse quality data and trends to drive performance improvements.
  • Manage non-conformances, root cause analysis, and customer complaints.
  • Lead and develop the QA and Technical team, promoting a strong quality culture.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, suppliers, and auditors.
  • Ensure regulatory, labelling, and hygiene standards are maintained.
  • Conduct risk assessments, gap analyses, and implement improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with production and operations to uphold quality standards.
  • Ensure consistent application of company and Health & Safety policies.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and promote continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Food Safety Level 4
  • HACCP Level 3, VACCP, TACCP
  • Lead/Internal Auditor qualification
  • Working knowledge of BRCGS standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
