Job description
Technical Lead
Leading UK / EU Food Manufacturer
Greater Manchester
£90,000 + Car Allowance + Benefits
This is a career-defining technical leadership role for someone ready to transform, modernise, and lead at scale.
We’re partnering with a leading UK/EU food manufacturer to appoint a Technical Lead who will take full ownership of food safety, quality, and hygiene at a flagship site. This role goes far beyond compliance — it’s about driving cultural change, building capability, and raising standards to world-class levels.
If you’re a credible, influential Technical Leader who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing and has a proven track record of delivering large-scale transformation, this is an opportunity to make a visible and lasting impact.
The Opportunity
As Technical Lead, you will lead the Technical, QA, and Hygiene functions, setting the strategic direction while remaining hands-on where it matters. You’ll have the autonomy and senior backing to reshape systems, develop people, and embed a robust food safety and quality culture across the site.
Key accountabilities include:
Owning and strengthening the Food Safety Management System, HACCP, and QMS
Leading end-to-end technical transformation across people, processes, and standards
Delivering effective change management and capability uplift across the technical team
Managing BRCGS, retailer, and regulatory audits with confidence and credibility
Overseeing hygiene, validation, risk assessment, traceability, and due diligence
Driving sustainable corrective actions for complaints, non-conformances, and audit findings
Embedding accountability, continuous improvement, and a positive food safety culture
Reporting meaningful technical KPIs and insights to senior leadership
About You
You’ll be a senior technical leader with the presence and experience to influence at all levels of the business.
You’ll bring:
Significant experience in a senior Technical / Quality role within food or FMCG manufacturing
A proven track record of leading transformation and change at scale
Deep expertise in BRCGS, HACCP, food legislation, and retailer standards
Experience leading sizeable Technical, QA, and Hygiene teams
A coaching-led leadership style that develops, empowers, and retains talent
Strong stakeholder management skills with customers, auditors, and regulators
A resilient, pragmatic, and solutions-focused mindset
