Location: Newcastle Area
Reports To: New Product Development Manager
Department: NPD/Marketing
Salary: c. £37,000
Are you passionate about creating innovative food products that excite customers? We’re looking for a SeniorNPDTechnologist to lead new product innovation from concept to launch at our County Durham site.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, retailers, and suppliers to design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge products that meet market trends and business goals. From recipe development and trial management to shelf-life testing and nutritional analysis—you’ll be hands-on every step of the way.
What you’ll do:
Develop and launch new and improved food products aligned with customer and business needs
Interpret retailer briefs and turn them into innovative, feasible product solutions
Lead recipe formulation, cost engineering, and supplier ingredient sourcing
Manage factory trials, sample submissions, and artwork approval
Conduct market research to spot trends and unlock opportunities
Mentor junior team members and deputise for the NPD Manager when needed
Ensure full compliance with food safety, allergen, and regulatory standards
What you need:
2-3 years minimum working in food product development within manufacturing
Strong knowledge of NPD processes, thermal processing, and HACCP (ideal)
Excellent communication and project management skills
Confident in liaising with retailers and suppliers
Full UK driving license
