Location: Newcastle Area
Reports To: New Product Development Manager
Department: NPD/Marketing
Salary: c. £37,000
Are you passionate about creating innovative food products that excite customers? We’re looking for a Senior NPD Technologist to lead new product innovation from concept to launch at our County Durham site.
You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, retailers, and suppliers to design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge products that meet market trends and business goals. From recipe development and trial management to shelf-life testing and nutritional analysis—you’ll be hands-on every step of the way.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and launch new and improved food products aligned with customer and business needs
- Interpret retailer briefs and turn them into innovative, feasible product solutions
- Lead recipe formulation, cost engineering, and supplier ingredient sourcing
- Manage factory trials, sample submissions, and artwork approval
- Conduct market research to spot trends and unlock opportunities
- Mentor junior team members and deputise for the NPD Manager when needed
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, allergen, and regulatory standards
What you need:
- 2-3 years minimum working in food product development within manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of NPD processes, thermal processing, and HACCP (ideal)
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Confident in liaising with retailers and suppliers
- Full UK driving license
