NPD Technologist
Location: Newcastle Area
Reports to: Senior NPD Technologist
Department: NPD/Marketing
Salary: up to £33,000
Join a dynamic product development team and bring food innovation to life! As an NPD Technologist, you’ll help develop and launch exciting new products from concept to shelf, working closely with retailers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
What you’ll do:
Interpret retailer briefs and create innovative, feasible product solutions
Conduct market research to spot trends and uncover opportunities
Develop and reformulate recipes to meet customer, technical, and financial goals
Manage projects alongside the Senior NPD Technologist, ensuring smooth delivery
Lead factory trials, shelf-life, nutritional, and safety testing
Collaborate with suppliers to source quality, cost-effective ingredients
Support artwork approval, sample submissions, and product documentation
Develop cooking instructions to ensure safety and quality for consumers
Assist Technical teams with allergen info, food safety, and legislation compliance
Visit retailers and support sample preparation for customer meetings and events
Bring fresh ideas and blue sky thinking to product development
What we’re looking for:
1-2 years minimum working within manufacturing
Food product development or a related technical role would be great!
Knowledge of thermal processing, food safety, and shelf-life testing (ideal)
Strong communication and project coordination skills
A proactive, team-player attitude with attention to detail
