Job description
QA Supervisor – Food Manufacturing
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off – 6am to 6pm
Fixed Salary: £32,736
Reporting to: QA Manager
Are you an experienced QA professional ready to step up and play a key role in driving standards across a fast-paced, food manufacturing site? We’re partnering with a leading UK food business that is investing heavily in quality, safety and continuous improvement. They are now seeking a confident, proactive QA Supervisor to join their technical team.
Why This Role?
This is a fantastic opportunity to work for a respected, well-established food manufacturer known for high standards, strong technical culture, and a real commitment to safety and product integrity. You'll play a critical role in ensuring food safety, quality, and compliance across the site – while supervising and developing a team of QA Auditors.
This position offers genuine influence, daily problem-solving, interaction with senior stakeholders, and exposure to customer standards across major UK retailers.
What You'll Be Doing
As the QA Supervisor, you’ll be the first point of contact for all QA-related matters on shift, ensuring all processes meet internal, customer and legal requirements. Key responsibilities include:
-
Monitoring and escalating any breaches of CCPs, OPRPs or quality control points.
-
Supporting investigations into food safety, legality, contamination, hygiene or process control issues.
-
Assisting in validation/verification activities and maintaining factory risk assessments.
-
Acting as QA support during external audits and deputising for the QA Manager where required.
-
Managing schedules for environmental testing, calibration, raw material testing and GMP checks.
-
Driving food safety culture initiatives across the site.
-
Owning the internal audit programme, including scheduling, training and non-conformance close-out.
-
Ensuring end-to-end traceability, start-up checks and line integrity are consistently maintained.
-
Leading, coaching and scheduling the QA team to ensure strong performance and adequate cover.
-
Supporting NPD trials, Pre-Pros and site improvement projects.
This is a hands-on, influential role that requires a calm, confident communicator who can take the lead when technical issues arise.
What We’re Looking For
-
Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or related discipline.
-
Background in food manufacturing with strong QA/Technical experience.
-
Experience working with major UK retailers (e.g., top-tier standards such as M&S or Tesco).
-
Strong understanding of HACCP and wider technical systems.
-
Knowledge of food legislation, labelling, allergens and nutritional requirements.
-
Confident communicator able to challenge, influence and work cross-functionally.
-
Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure and maintain accuracy in a fast-moving environment.
-
Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
What’s In It For You
-
A secure role with a well-respected manufacturer.
-
Opportunity to work with a knowledgeable and supportive technical leadership team.
-
Involvement in audits, projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
-
A chance to shape food safety culture and develop a strong QA team.
If you're a QA professional ready for your next challenge in a dynamic and forward-thinking food manufacturing environment, we’d love to hear from you.
