Human Resources Business Partner
Job description
£60,000 – £65,000 + CA + pension
Covering sites in Scotland, Northern England & Ireland
(Base flexible but likely central Scotland with regular travel to Cumbria)
Join a leading UK manufacturing business and shape the people agenda across multiple operational sites.
My client is one of the UK's largest businesses that produces food ingredients on an industrial scale. With over £1 billion turnover and a track record of steady growth, including the acquisition of two well-known brands recently, they combine heritage, innovation, and a people-first culture.
They are now seeking a hands-on, credible HR Business Partner to support their Operations across four key sites. This is a newly created regional role as part of a refreshed HR structure under the Group HR Director, designed to provide hands-on, proactive HR partnership to operational leaders - helping to build capability, engagement, and performance across a diverse and dynamic workforce, therefore reflecting the continued growth and commitment to great people leadership.
The opportunity
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to our regional Operations Leadership Team, partnering with site and general managers to deliver a practical, people-centred HR strategy that supports business goals. You’ll bring both strategic insight and hands-on delivery, guiding workforce planning, employee relations, organisational design, and leadership development.
It’s a role with genuine scope and autonomy, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, independence, and visibility across sites.
What you’ll be doing
- Partner with operational leaders to deliver the people strategy aligned to business and production objectives.
- Coach and support managers to strengthen their people leadership capability.
- Lead employee relations and industrial relations activities, including complex cases, consultations, and union engagement.
- Drive performance management, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
- Collaborate with L&D, Reward, and central HR colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality HR support.
- Use data and insight to improve workforce engagement, retention, and productivity.
- Champion a culture of safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement across all sites.
About you
You’ll be an experienced HR professional with strong generalist and partnering skills, ideally gained in manufacturing or other heavy industrial environments. You’ll bring:
- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or multi-site HR Manager.
- A practical, action-oriented mindset, equally effective on the shopfloor and with senior leaders.
- Strong influencing, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- A resilient, fair, and values-led approach.
- CIPD qualification (or equivalent).
- Willingness to travel regularly within your region (particularly to Cumbria).
