Fresh Produce Buyer
Job description
Fresh Produce Buyer
£30,000 – £40,000 + Progression
South Devon
Early Shift | Growing Business
I’m working with a well-established and rapidly growing fresh produce business that supplies high-quality fruit into the public sector and hospitality markets. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to bring in a Fresh Produce Buyer to strengthen their commercial team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a business on the up, where you’ll have real influence on product selection, pricing, and sales direction — not just sit behind a desk placing orders.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for sourcing and buying a wide range of fresh fruit, ensuring the business is competitive on price while maintaining strong quality and availability.
A big part of the role is working closely with the telesales team — guiding them on what to push, what’s moving in the market, and where the best opportunities are day-to-day.
Key Responsibilities
- Buying across a range of fresh fruit lines
- Building strong supplier relationships and negotiating on price
- Keeping a close eye on market trends and seasonality
- Working hand-in-hand with telesales to drive sales and promotions
- Managing stock levels and availability for a busy customer base
- Supporting commercial decisions that impact margin and growth
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in fresh produce / food buying, trading, or a similar commercial role
- Good understanding of fruit (or fresh categories) and how markets move
- Commercial mindset with confidence to make decisions
- Someone who enjoys a fast-paced, early-start environment
- Strong communicator who can influence sales teams
The Details
- Salary: £30,000 – £40,000
- Hours: 5:00am – 2:00pm or 6:00am – 3:00pm (Mon–Fri)
- Every second Saturday: 5:00am – 12:00pm
Why Apply?
- Growing business with genuine progression opportunities
- Visible, impactful role within the commercial team
- Opportunity to shape product range and sales strategy
- Supportive, fast-moving environment where decisions matter
