Primary Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Accountant will support the Finance Team in delivering accurate and timely financial information, assisting with the month-end process, statutory reporting, and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a passed AAT or part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA) looking to develop their career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility and Standards of Performance

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconcilliations
  • Production of KPI reports
  • Prepare journals including accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset depreciation
  • Support preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure correct capitalisation
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
  • Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and audit packs
  • Support VAT, PAYE, and other HMRC compliance submissions
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to ensure accurate cost reporting
  • Monitor and reconcile intercompany accounts
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within finance operations
  • Provide support during internal and external audits
  • Management of the sites food safety culture, to help prevent deviation in the process that impacts the safety, quality and legality of our products
  • Understand and adhere to Company policies and procedures which are relevant to both the site and the working environment
  • Any other duties as deemed reasonable by your line manager or senior management to assist with the operation of the business.

Passed and experienced AAT, or part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or working towards

 

 

 

 

 

Skills

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Experience

Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a similar finance role (ideally in manufacturing or FMCG)

 

 

Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities

 

 

Experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
