These days, you will often find recruitment consultants in big companies taking on every job under the sun. Whether its an engineering role, sales and marketing role or in retail, they’ll be handled by the same person. Sure the recruitment consultant will know their stuff and can do their job well. However, they don’t have specific industry expertise and genuinely know the industry inside out. Our aim over this series of blogs is to give you an insight to our approach to recruitment, a feel for our brand values and most importantly our expert knowledge.
At D R Newitt we pride ourselves on our specialised knowledge, not just in the Food and Drink manufacturing sector, but in the disciplines within the sector too. You may already be aware we deal with;
- Supply Chain
- New Product Development
- Interim
- Engineering
- Finance
- Sales & Marketing
- Production & Operations
- Technical
Each area has a dedicated team of individuals dealing with a particular area of the country, and a department manager who oversees them. This approach to recruitment is somewhat uncommon and is great for our clients and candidates, as we’re able to speak the same language and truly connect.
WHY IT’S GOOD FOR OUR CLIENTS
The unique way in which we work allows us to build a great rapport and consistent relationships with our clients. It shapes a foundation of trust which gives our clients peace of mind, as we are confidently able to select the best individual for the job, by ensuring the candidates’ personality, academic qualifications and existing career credentials will match what the clients are looking for.
At DR Newitt we have immediate access to the best talent available, which includes individuals who may already be employed in the industry but are looking for a new challenge. When discussing a clients’ requirements, the chances are we already know someone perfect for the position from our widespread network and database of candidates.
Industry and geographical benchmarks are used to recommend the best salary packages for the candidate and even negotiate on behalf of both parties until a mutually acceptable pay package is agreed.
WHY IT’S GOOD FOR OUR CANDIDATES
One of our main priorities is to develop an in depth understanding of our candidates’ motivations, career aspirations, and work history. Having this expert knowledge enables us to support candidates throughout the whole process of recruitment, from constructing a CV tailored to the particular industry, interview prep to guidance on your first day. We can even advise on routes for career progression once you are in your ideal role.

Meet the team……
A MESSAGE FROM MARTIN BRYCE
“I have worked for D R Newitt for nearly three years following two years spent with a previous recruitment agency. D R Newitt is a great fit for me as I am given the right level of autonomy and flexibility to manage my team as I see fit. This is coupled with on-going support from our Directors’, Forbes Gunn and Stephanie Newitt. Across all of our specialisms, D R Newitt have Consultants who are dedicated, hard-working and strive to offer an excellent level of industry knowledge and customer-service to both clients and candidates.
My team works well together. We are constantly sharing leads, candidates and industry information with each other. We operate with professionalism and focus, but also understand the importance of the occasional coffee break to keep the energy levels where they need to be! We cross-over with our Manchester counterparts daily – sharing ideas and knowledge of supply chain as well as a bit of friendly rivalry!
Having focused the last three years of my career on supply chain and logistics within the food industry my knowledge has grown massively. I have developed a detailed understanding of how the function works. From the early stages of the process i.e.: buying and procuring of raw materials, through to the delivery and safe storage of goods, the production planning function and at the final stages, the delivery of goods to the customer or end-user. Logistics area is a key focus for us also – working closely with large 3PL businesses that give us access to some excellent companies that cover all industries (not just food). I tend to recruit at the more senior end of the supply chain and take genuine pleasure from completing a project that leaves client and candidate satisfied.’’
