Technical Administrator
Job description
If you’re working in technical, quality, or aquaculture and want a role that gives you real responsibility, exposure to short shelf-life products, and hands-on involvement with suppliers, this could be the right next step.
We’re recruiting on behalf of a retailer-facing food business operating within a chilled, short shelf-life category. The role sits within a small, experienced technical team and offers a strong balance of technical administration, compliance, and practical supplier engagement.
Why This Role Might Suit You
You want broader technical exposure, not just desk-based QA work
You enjoy working across complaints, suppliers, and quality systems, rather than being siloed
You’re interested in aquaculture or primary production, even if your background is more general food technical
You want to build confidence dealing with customers, legislation, and audits
You value working in a structured but supportive technical environment
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing and maintaining the complaints database, ensuring investigations are completed and followed through
Supporting the Technical Manager with KPI tracking, trending, and reporting to drive continuous improvement
Acting as a technical link between operations and suppliers, supporting responsible sourcing and compliance
Assisting with the technical approval of new raw material suppliers
Monitoring and managing environmental and biotoxin risk using a traffic-light system
Reviewing customer codes of practice and ensuring alignment with site procedures
Supporting internal audits and ongoing improvements to the Quality Management System
Completing associated technical and administrative tasks
What We’re Looking For
Experience in a technical, quality, food safety, or aquaculture-related role (industry experience is more important than job title)
A solid understanding of HACCP, CCPs, and GMP
Someone who is methodical, organised, and comfortable following procedures
Able to work independently while contributing to a close-knit technical team
Confident communicator who can deal with suppliers and internal stakeholders
A full UK driving licence is required
What You’ll Gain
Exposure to a chilled, short shelf-life category supplying major UK retailers
Hands-on involvement in supplier compliance and risk management
Opportunity to strengthen your technical and regulatory experience
A role with variety, ownership, and clear development potential
