Project Engineer

Job description

We are looking for a Project Engineer to join a well-established international manufacturing organisation. With multiple sites across the UK, the company produces a diverse range of high-quality products through advanced, sustainable, and accredited processes.

This full-time role (40 hours/week) will play a central part in delivering high-impact projects that improve operations and support long-term investment plans. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and aligned with business objectives.

The Role

You will join a small but highly capable engineering team, leading projects across all phases of management, including:

  • Initiation – interpreting requirements, completing feasibility studies, and providing technical guidance.

  • Planning – developing design concepts, capturing user requirements, liaising with equipment suppliers (national and international), and preparing business cases for investment approval.

  • Execution – coordinating tendering, installation, and contractor management, ensuring utilities and services are in place ahead of time.

  • Monitoring & Control – conducting regular progress reviews, overseeing FAT & SAT testing, and ensuring compliance with specifications.

  • Closure – managing snagging lists, sign-offs, and setting up service contracts and spare part requirements.

Additional responsibilities include weekly updates, monthly reporting, and supporting the site’s asset management and continuous improvement strategies.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation alongside project management expertise. You will have:

  • A mechanical or electrical background with hands-on experience.

  • Time-served engineering training (apprenticeship minimum) plus relevant qualifications.

  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.

  • Proven ability to deliver projects through structured phases.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and competing priorities.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, proactive problem-solving, and resource management skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, CMMS, and project management software.

Package

  • Salary: £46,400

  • Bonus target: £2,800

  • Site-based role (40 hours per week)
