ROLE
Key Responsibilities:
• Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes to ensure the freshness, safety, and quality of products.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant regulations and standards governing the fresh produce industry, ensuring full compliance in all aspects of operations.
• Supplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, conducting regular audits and assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation and development initiatives, focusing on enhancing quality and meeting customer preferences.
• Food Safety: Oversee food safety protocols and procedures, including HACCP, GMP, and SOPs, to minimize risks and ensure the highest levels of food safety throughout the supply chain.
• Leadership of the QC team
• Responsible for Food Safety and Legality of end product.
• Brief daily on current product quality, customer visits, rejections, performance
• Undertake random quality checks are carried out at all stages of grading and packing
• process ensure quality parameters are being maintained.
• To conduct internal audits against Internal audit schedule and ensure corrective action
• Maintain and where necessary develop the QMS / SOP documentation..
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Proven experience in a technical role within the fresh produce industry, with a strong understanding of quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent knowledge of industry standards and regulations, including BRC, GlobalGAP, and relevant food safety certifications.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and solve complex technical problems.
• Proven track record of driving continuous improvement initiatives and implementing best practices.
• Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF) is highly desirable.
