There is only one thing we love more than building new working relationships and that’s building on our existing ones in order to strengthen them long term. Nothing pleases us more as recruiters than hearing the success stories from our previous candidates. We work extremely hard in order to find the perfect candidate for the job, so hearing how well they are getting on can be incredibly rewarding.
We decided to catch up with a few of our candidates that we placed last year to share their success stories with you.
The first candidate we spoke to was Logistics Manager Scott, who was placed with a company called Spinneys in Dubai back in 2016 by our Consultant Matthew Steedman. At the time, Scott was not actively looking for a new role but decided to take a chance after being approached by Matthew and has not looked back since. We contacted Scott to see how he was adapting to his exciting new life in Dubai…
“Working for Spinneys is brilliant! They have a completely different way of working to what I was used to in the UK. The companies out here are comprised of diverse people from around the globe who all come together to create a unique collaborative way of working. This is the aspect of the job that I am particularly enjoying, everyone working together towards the same goal. My boss Sunial is somebody who I really look up to, he puts no pressure on you, backs you 100% and his calm and collective attitude really motivates me. This opportunity has provided me with an invaluable insight into to how you should treat people as a manager. Moving to Dubai was a huge decision for me and I have to say, Matt has been a fantastic help during the transition. Moving to a new country can obviously be quite daunting, but having Matt on hand, who previously lived in Dubai, was a massive help with useful tips in and around the city.”
The second candidate we spoke to was Purchasing Manager Robert Russell. Back in 2016, impending redundancy prompted Robert to contact D R Newitt to seek out new opportunities. Our consultant Simon Norris saw how strong his CV was and had the perfect opportunity for him; a famous Scottish food manufacturer with a well-known brand were looking for highly experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team. With over 30 years of experience and a level three CIP (Chartered Institute of Purchasing) qualification, Robert was able to make a profound difference within the company.
“My time so far with the company has been great and I’m loving the challenge. They have an extremely unified work culture, which is facilitated through team building exercises. I instantly felt welcome into the company and have quickly become an integral part of the team. I’ve also had the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and how to implement them throughout the company.”
The last candidate we spoke to was Deborah who was looking for a new job opportunity after moving form Glasgow to Edinburgh to be closer to her family. After contacting D R Newitt, she was soon identified by Matt as an excellent candidate for a role as a Quality Manager and the rest is history. She has now been with a well-known Scottish manufacturer for eight months and is really relishing the role.
“I’m really enjoying the company, everyone is really nice. Having previously worked for an extremely large corporation I am enjoying being part of a more intimate working environment. It has given me the opportunity to be more involved and utilise my experience with retailers in order to make a real difference to the business. This role has allowed me to develop my existing skills and given me more responsibility on the job. I also have a strong working relationship with my boss, who I respect a great deal due to their inspirational dedication to the job”.
Every candidate we speak to has a story to tell and listening to their story is all part of the recruitment process.
