Location: Greater Manchester

Salary Range: £45k to £50L + Benefits
I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturing business for a Senior EHS Specialist to join their team. This is a key position with responsibility for shaping and embedding a proactive, high-performance safety culture across the site’s operations.

The Role:
- Develop and implement robust health & safety policies in line with UK legislation and industry standards
- Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard identification initiatives
- Lead training and development on topics including fire safety, manual handling, PPE, and emergency procedures
- Drive compliance across EHS standards, producing regular reports and liaising with external regulators
- Lead thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Deliver occupational health & wellbeing programmes, including health surveillance
- Take ownership of environmental management and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote engagement through safety campaigns, events, and communication strategies
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, best practices, and emerging risks
Your Skills & Experience
- Educated to degree level in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- Holds the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) – Essential
- Demonstrable experience in EHS roles, ideally within a food manufacturing or regulated environment
- Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation, compliance, and audit processes
- Effective trainer with the ability to develop and deliver engaging safety content
- Skilled in incident reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent stakeholder communication skills
- Flexible approach to working hours and site needs (some weekend/holiday coverage may be required)
