Do you thrive in fast-paced operations where food quality and workplace safety are top priorities?
I am currently recruiting on behalf of a high-end food distribution business for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join their London-based team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a key leadership role within a business known for sourcing and delivering premium food products to some of the UK’s most prestigious hotels, restaurants, and retailers. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the Health & Safety function across multiple sites, with the support of a collaborative senior leadership team.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for:
Designing and implementing Health & Safety policies, procedures, and management systems across all operational locations
Ensuring full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry standards
Leading internal audits, workplace inspections, and reviewing risk assessments, SSOWs, and SOPs
Investigating incidents, conducting root cause analysis, managing RIDDOR reports, and liaising with external agencies (e.g. HSE, insurers)
Supporting teams with practical guidance and delivering tailored Health & Safety training programmes
Analysing H&S performance data, identifying trends, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
Reporting to senior stakeholders, including contributing to risk committee meetings
Your Skills & Experience
NEBOSH General Certificate (Essential) – applications without this qualification will not be considered
Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role, ideally within logistics, FMCG, or food environments
Sound knowledge of UK Health & Safety law, audit processes, and accident investigation techniques
Ability to work independently while influencing at all levels of the business
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive, solutions-driven approach
Please note: Only candidates with a valid NEBOSH qualification will be considered for this role.
