Labatory Team Leader

If you're a laboratory professional with a strong understanding of quality systems and leadership, this is a brilliant opportunity to step into a key role within a food manufacturing environment. We're looking for someone to take charge of lab operations and help drive standards across safety, quality, and compliance.

This is a site-based leadership role, supporting 24/7 manufacturing with responsibility for both people and processes. You’ll be the bridge between technical, production, and quality teams, making sure laboratory testing, documentation, and reporting are always running smoothly.

As the Laboratory Team Leader, you'll lead a team of technicians, manage lab schedules, oversee testing protocols, and maintain the systems needed to meet internal and external standards. You’ll be central to quality investigations and will play a key part in supporting audits, food safety systems, and compliance reporting.

We’re open to candidates with backgrounds in food, chemical, petrochemical, or microbiological environments—but you must be able to do the following:

Confidently supervise lab staff, ensure the calibration and maintenance of equipment, manage consumable stock, and contribute to improvement projects. You’ll support HACCP reviews, oversee finished product release, and support new methodology when required.

This role requires a hands-on, organised individual who’s confident in quality documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement. You'll need to be self-motivated, precise, and a strong communicator, with the ability to lead by example and build a positive, safety-first lab culture.

The position offers a salary of £41,000–£46,000, based on experience, with a 37.5-hour working week and a clear path for progression in a high-performing technical environment.
