We seeking a Compliance Team Lead to join our Advisory Services team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of technical and regulatory experts delivering high-quality product information reviews and compliance advice to one or more key clients.
You’ll be the primary technical contact for your client(s), ensuring services are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with regulatory and commercial requirements. As a line manager and client liaison, you’ll balance people leadership, resource planning, and issue resolution to uphold high standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of Advisors and Senior Advisors.
Oversee the day-to-day delivery of services to assigned client(s), ensuring compliance with agreed KPIs and SLAs.
Act as the main point of contact for technical, regulatory, and operational issues.
Provide direction to your team, ensuring clarity and consistency in advice to clients and suppliers.
Escalate or resolve workload and resource challenges proactively.
Support the development and implementation of effective ways of working.
Liaise with Business Development and Account Management teams regarding project scopes, turnaround times, and resource availability.
Deputise for the Team Manager or Technical Controller as required.
Monitor team performance, provide feedback, and identify training needs.
Contribute to governance and client reports with accurate and timely data.
Maintain and develop expertise in relevant product categories and regulations.
What We’re Looking For
Knowledge & Qualifications (Essential):
Degree in food science, regulatory affairs, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
Strong knowledge of relevant food/non-food legislation, codes of practice, and guidance.
Broad awareness of regulatory requirements across multiple product categories (e.g., food, baby food, supplements, pet food, non-food, alcohol).
Up-to-date with industry trends and legislative changes.
Ability to share complex knowledge clearly with clients and colleagues.
Experience (Essential):
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical, regulatory, or compliance role.
Proven ability to manage workloads, make risk-based decisions, and communicate effectively.
Experience using specification or artwork management systems.
Strong planning, time management, and organisational skills.
Previous team leadership or mentoring experience.
Confident in a client-facing role.
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Fluency in English and, where required, relevant market language(s).
Desirable:
Management training or a willingness to undertake a development programme.
Fluency in additional languages.
Familiarity with multiple product categories across international markets.
