Technical Manager

The role will focus on creating an added value for the business and be instrumental in achieving a sustainable competitive advantage by satisfying the demands and requirements of customers and regulators and protecting the businesses brand integrity.

The role:

Provide technical and environmental governance across the site
Provide technical support to NPD and other departments
Ensure budgetary controls are managed so that business targets are met
Promote technical improvement practices in order to deliver a competitive advantage, department improvements and customer compliance
Actively participate in the senior management team to ensure delivery of site targets and strategy
Drive a positive Quality culture.
Develop and manage site reporting systems and provide regular effective communication on areas of responsibility to the business internally, to group and for customers
Collaborate with other staff both on-site and at group level
Act as site technical contact for all customers and external bodies
Maintain optimum audit rankings and work toward ensuring the level of technical and hygiene compliance at all times – ready for any unannounced audit

The candidate:

Degree or equivalent in Food Science/Technology
Advanced Food Hygiene/Safety Certificate
Lead Auditor
Level 4 Advanced HACCP
Intermediate Health & Safety
Experience of leading BRC and major retailer audits
Numerical & verbal reasoning
Good communication skills at all levels
Team Player and able to work on own
Problem solving
Strategic thinking/ analysis
Customer Awareness/ commercial acumen
Leadership & team management & development
Previous experience in a senior technical role in a food manufacturing environment
IT literate – advanced use of MS office; M3
