Job Description

An excellent opportunity as come around for a candidate to join a growing business in a key role, with the task of reviewing and developing plans to ensure that this growth is utilised to improve the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of the business, the General Manager will have day to day responsibility for the running of the business operations.

Key Accountability:

• Oversee daily Operations to maximise operational efficiency;
• Optimising yield results;
• Optimising Line efficiency;
• Maximise order fulfilment;
• Evaluate current business processes and systems;
• Develop / support customer relationships by meeting businesses objectives and by understanding how operational performance impact internal and external customers;
• Efficiently and effectively manage personnel and resources;
• Responsible for direct reports’ performance against agreed KPIs facilitating employee recognition;
• Ensure and hold direct reports accountable for meeting and controlling operating expenses and established targets
• Manage Production Managers and work in co-ordination with the Technical & Quality Managers to ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards are maintained and adhered to;
• Directly manage all day to day functions including Operations, Technical and Engineering;
• Accurate, timely submission of reports to Managing Director including business updates;
• Create a culture for safety on site with emphasis on housekeeping and good maintenance practices and compliance at the highest level with H&S legislation;
• Shared responsibility for concession approval (with Technical Manager and Managing Director);
• Shared responsibility for facilities management to include: the evaluation of proposed machinery, factory construction and optimisation of site usage;

Knowledge & Ability:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience within frozen and/or chilled manufacturing environments
• General knowledge of BRC essential with further technical knowledge being desirable
• Prior experience of running site operations
• Project Management experience
• Understanding of how production expenditure/costs impact business margins and pricing
