We have an exciting opportunity to join our client’s Technical team as Raw Materials, Packaging & Supplier Quality Technologist!

In this fast moving, busy and varied role, you will be a vital part of the Technical team reporting to the Head of Technical and responsible for managing the site’s raw material specifications; Ensuring full supplier assurance requirements are met and that information provided is reviewed to confirm compliance to the businesses expectations. Managing issues with incoming raw materials to ensure they comply with specification and are suitable for use.

To be a success in this role, you will need to be well organised and be able to prioritise to ensure targets are achieved. You will have strong communication skills and be effective at building relationships. You should have excellent computer skills and would ideally have experience working within the food industry.

The role
Build and maintain relationships with all internal & external stakeholders and act as the primary point of contact for all supplier (including service suppliers), raw material & packaging requests & customer queries relating suppliers or materials.
Responsible for managing Supplier Approval (including service suppliers), Raw Material and Packaging Approval & Appraisal processes. Including but not limited to, the maintenance of the raw material allergen risk assessment, Vulnerability risk assessment, supply chain mapping, and export requirements.
Responsible for Horizon scanning for relevant Raw Materials & Packaging risk
Responsible for ensuring all requirements relating to supplier and materials meet certification and customer requirements
Responsible for ensuring any updates to UK legislation in regard to Materials are communicated to relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance within time scales.
Responsible for leading the site accreditations for material led certifications. Ensuring certifications are maintained and audits completed on time.
Responsible for ensuring all supplier data is maintained.
Responsible for tracking & spend of materials testing budget.
Working with Internal & External sources to managing out of spec materials and where required, investigate and close out non-conformances / concessions related to Raw materials and Packaging.
Working with site R&D to support Manufacturing with material investigations
Working with site R&D & Procurement to ensure materials selected for development meet company & customer requirements and legislation in planned country of sale.
Working with Procurement & CQM as part of value engineering projects for materials.
Working with Internal & External stakeholders to manage all material changes for site
Key member of site HACCP, Allergen and Internal audit teams.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Degree or HND in Food Technology or equivalent
Previous experience in Food Raw Materials
Level 3 Food Safety or above
Level 3 HACCP or above
Lead auditor trained

Additional desirable Qualifications and Experience:
FSPCA Preventative Controls for Human Food would be desirable
Understanding of SAP
