Job Description

Our client, a leading UK producer in the food industry, has informed us of a new opening. They’re looking for a Quality Assurance Team Leader which reports to the Technical Manager. This will be located at the site in Greater Glasgow. This is an excellent opportunity for those who wish to join a notable, well-established brand, with distinct progression routes.

Purpose of role

Oversee the QA team daily, ensuring that QA checks are done as required. Drive efficiency and minimise the complaints from customers by working closely with the QA team. Support the Technical Manager ensuring that production activities, process control checks and associated records adhere to the set company standards, customer codes of practice and food safety legislation.

Job responsibilities

• Manage the QA technicians so that everyone performs their assigned roles to the correct standard
• Availability for covering absent staff
• Handling of customer complaints, incidents, out of spec micro results – product and environmental, hygiene audits & GMP
• Support development and maintain QAs line standards and specification for product acceptability
• Ensure process control records are correctly controlled via document control system and updated alongside the quality system
• Control the external calibration of instruments
• Create weekly date code records
• Support the Technical Manager with BRC, 3rd party and customer site visits
• Ensure the documents for traceability and process control is filed through the correct procedure.

Desirable traits and experience

• Experience working in a QA department
• Staff Management skills
• Qualifications/certifications within the food industry
• Knowledge and practical experience of quality systems and process control
• Motivated personality with a desire for pushing team performance
• Proactive approach to change, problem solving and root cause analysis
• IOSH
• Efficient time management skills

What the Job Offers

• Salary – £24,000 – £27,000
• Mon-Friday working days
