COMPANY

Currently I am working with a business who are growing organically, with 2 sites in the U.K and an array of well-branded, established products of which are sold out of all major U.K retailers.

We are looking to add 2 new Operations managers as an additional layer of support between the shop floor and site manager, in order to drive cultural change, support team leaders and ultimately drive a more efficient manufacturing operation for the business.

These are 2 brand new roles, and with the business growing year on year, the opportunities for progression are endless.

PERSON

We are looking for someone who would define themselves as an engaging, people person, who is not afraid to have open and honest conversations with staff when required and can drive cultural change through empowering staff and coaching them to further develop themselves

SHIFT

Averaging at a 40hr working week, we have:

x1 A unique 12hr day shift, consisting of 2 in 4 weekends, 6am – 6:15pm.

x1 Unique 12hr night shift, consisting of 2 in 4 weekends, 6pm – 6:15pm

SALARY

Day shift: total remuneration is £58k + 1.5% bonus

Night Shift: Total remuneration is £61k + 1.5% bonus

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading a shift-based team across Production, Warehousing and Engineering functions through a team of supervisors; operating team members and technicians. The role provides direction to the team for delivering safe high quality food products, reporting achievement through established KPIs and communication processes.

People

Set direction and engage the shift-based team across all functions to achieve shift-based targets and strategic objectives
Cascade agreed objectives to team members
Lead and develop a team of shift supervisors using the company competency framework and documented development plans
Hold regular 1:1s with direct team and performance-based reviews in line with processes
Manage all shift-based activities to achieve all targets across the shift scorecard
Manage and execute team training plans to ensure necessary skill mix and capability within the shift-based team
Safety

Lead all shift-based team members to achieve a reduction in accidents and improved safety culture
Ensure regular and effective communication on all health, safety and environmental matters
Ensure that people who work for you know how to work safely and without risks to health.
Maintain a positive health and safety culture, where safe and healthy working becomes second nature to everyone.
Meet your legal duty to protect the health and safety of your teams
Ensure all activities on shift are compliant with standard operating procedures
Investigate every accident on your shift to establish root cause and implement robust corrective actions using hierarchy of control
Ensure all tasks and machinery risk assessments are complied with at shift level
Delivery

Lead and coordinate the team to achieve shift and weekly output and efficiency targets
Review misses to target to understand direct and root causes. Ensure corrective actions are defined and results assessed
Implement and manage a structured performance-based review process (short interval control) on shift with robust action planning and tracking to deliver results
Build shared plans with shift-based engineering team to execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities on shift. Use top loss data to ensure corrective actions to resolve performance issues are appropriately scheduled
Own and lead shift-based improvement plan to achieve strategic goals
Ensure on plan delivery of shift reliability improvement plan including CIL; autonomous maintenance training; PM creation and review, centrelining programme.
Cost

Lead and coordinate activities on shift to achieve target yield
Investigate the causes of waste on shift. Define and lead projects to reduce
Lead shift-based cost optimisation project
Continuous Improvement

Continuously improve the knowledge and skills of personnel on site through training.
Drive improvements on shift through the shift-based team
Train and mentor shift team on Lean and operational excellence concepts. Develop capability in the shift-based organisation
Lead CI projects identified with cross functional shift-based team
Embed a CI mindset throughout the team
