Job Description

My client, an amazing culinary lead food and ingredients manufacturer are looking to grow by adding a junior Concept Developer to their team at the site based in the East Midlands.

The candidate will be required to work closely with the Business Development Chef (BDC) to ensure NPD projects are delivered in line with the critical path, to guarantee smooth running of the department as well as successful product launches for our customers.

We are looking for someone with a love of food for this role with the opportunity for a strong foundation to gain a career in Product Development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support and management of product development projects from ideation through to
launch.
• A hands on approach to product recipe development, working in the kitchen to generate
samples and product testing for external customers.
• Liaise with the International Group R&D team to ensure a smooth transition from
kitchen to factory scale up for launch.
• Organisation and completion of appropriate product testing to ensure products
developed are fit for purpose.
• Updating and maintaining relevant documentation and formulations for developments
for supporting documentation to be generated.
• To assist and carry out the preparation and presentation of innovative concepts to
internal and external partners to help enhance future projects with our customer base.
• To stay up to date with new to shelf products across the market and be aware of current
and future food trends.
• To be able to match or develop products that fit with information gathered through
Restaurant Visits, Supermarket Research or Social Media influences to deliver market
leading concepts to customers.
• To generate internal and external documentation to report on Food Trends, New
Products and Social media influences that have been spotted and to develop products
fitting the information obtained.

Role Requirements:
• A food based degree would be advantageous but not essential
• A minimum of a NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• An understanding of HACCP, Food Safety and Manual Handling Protocol
• Creative and able to generate new product ideas for customers
• Passionate foodie with a real interest in food and product development

Hours:
Full Time. Monday to Friday. Possibility of European travel.

Package:
Salary 25-35k
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
