The Company
A well-established, progressive, and expanding organisation that is the first point of contact as a supplier for high-end food service establishments across the UK. Due to outstanding growth, they are adding experienced people to the team to deliver the finest products to their customers.
The Role
This is a brand-new position for the business. As their Import Controller, you will be responsible for all their products coming into the UK. Currently working with 3rd party transporters and customs agents, you’ll be leading the transition to In-House importing, you'll establish new processes and systems to ensure all imports comply with customs laws and international trade regulations. Your duties will include.
• Manage the entire import process for Air and Sea Freight shipments, ensuring smooth delivery from origin.
• As Sole administrator of the Dock Management System, you will maintain the accuracy of the delivery schedule, investigate delivery delays and report monthly on Supplier and Transporter performance, reconciling transport invoices.
• Establish all necessary shipment documents, such as bills of lading, customs declarations, and transport contracts, are prepared accurately and on time, following regulations.
• Maintain strong relationships with international suppliers, shipping agents, and other stakeholders, negotiating terms and managing contracts
• Manage all admin & documents for Import including maintaining and updating with customer details, EORI numbers, product details, commodity codes and customs declarations.
Your Skills & Experience
To be considered for this opportunity you will need.
• Expert with ERP systems (SAP) and Excel to a high level, as well as being highly IT literate
• An in-depth understanding of the movement of food produce across borders and the customs processes, in the UK and Europe
• Experience of calculating freight/shipping costs
• Excellent internal and external stakeholder engagement
• A passion for high quality food produce
