Our client is a rapidly growing food manufacturer with a reputation for producing the highest quality products.
As part of the long term business plan they are now looking to appoint a Head of Technical.

This outstanding opportunity will see you acting in a key capacity to ensure their business excels in all technical, hygiene and process standards and will continue to deliver outstanding results.

Not only will you be involved in the highest standards of technical excellence right across the organisation, but you will also inspire and manage the individuals within the technical department, meaning that you will be able to expand your expertise across a wide range of disciplines.

The role

To lead food safety expertise across their manufacturing site, proactively managing standards and improvements in the site food safety culture.
Balancing the technical needs with the efficiency required on the production line to ensure best in class on Quality and Technical areas.
To build strong partnership-based relationships with retailer technical teams, taking a proactive approach rather than reacting to retailer demands.
Maintain and develop site accreditations, Quality Policy and GMP
Take a leading role in announced & un announced audit site visits as required.
Provide accurate, up to date and timely company information e.g. Specifications.
To engage key company stakeholders to achieve and maintain excellent factory standards to obtain the best possible audit results.
Determine and maintain manufacturing hygiene standards.

The candidate

In depth knowledge of up to date BRC standards, expectations and implementation
HACCP Level 4 Qualified.
Strong knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and Food Safety compliance.
Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of food safety legislation and its requirements to ensure full compliance.
Experience of interpreting microbiological results and required actions.
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team to meet tight deadlines.
Ability to blend strategic thinking with operational / commercial / engineering delivery.
Good communicator ability to interact with other teams/functions.
Ability to prioritise effectively.
Ability to remain calm and professional in a sometimes-pressurised environment.
