My client is a successful SME. In partnership, we are seeking to appoint a Head of Procurement.

To identify, and negotiate commercial terms with, suppliers of superb-quality great tasting food in the prepared meals, vegetables & accompaniments and desserts market, building long-term, sustainable and rewarding relationships.
Create and implement purchasing policies, procedures and processes to aid and improve business performance.
Ensure that the plans are in place, and actions are taken, to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, quality and delivery targets.
Manage relationships with suppliers including supplier selection, de-selection, negotiation and evaluation.
Forecast pricing and market trends to optimise buying and procurement strategies and plans.
Work closely with the Marketing team to new and alternative products, and to support commercial trading plans.
Coach, mentor and develop direct reports delivering continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.
Manage stock levels and procurement processes to ensure optimal cash flow management and stock availability.
Ensure compliance with all legal requirements.
Monitor market and competitor activity to highlight and act on opportunities and challenges and so support the delivery of the commercial objectives.
Review environmental strategies that support a sustainable approach to procurement.
Likely to be educated to degree level (but not essential).
Proven experience in the food manufacturing industry.
Demonstrable experience of working at a senior level within a procurement function.
A proven track record of delivering effective purchasing strategies, policies, processes and systems.
Demonstrates success in adding value, reducing costs and making business improvements.
Identifying new suppliers and on-boarding to deliver profitable growth.
