Our client, a reputable cake manufacturer based in London, is seeking a dedicated and capable Goods-In Assistant to join their warehouse team.

Role Overview:

As a Goods-In Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the warehouse by managing the receipt and storage of incoming goods. Your experience in lifting and shifting goods, coupled with your attention to detail, will contribute to maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting the overall logistics operations.

Responsibilities:

Receive and unload incoming goods, ensuring accurate quantities and verifying against purchase orders and delivery notes.
Inspect and examine deliveries for damages or discrepancies, promptly reporting any issues to the appropriate parties.
Organize and store received goods in designated locations, ensuring proper rotation and adherence to inventory management systems.
Maintain accurate records of received goods, including stock counts, batch numbers, and shelf life information.
Assist in the labeling, tagging, and identification of goods to facilitate proper tracking and retrieval.
Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to ensure the timely delivery of goods to the appropriate departments.
Assist in periodic stocktaking and inventory reconciliation, identifying and investigating discrepancies as needed.
Adhere to health and safety guidelines while handling goods, using appropriate lifting techniques and protective equipment.
Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment, including the proper disposal of packaging materials and waste.
Assist in other warehouse tasks and duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:

Previous experience in a warehouse or goods-in role, with a focus on lifting and shifting goods, is required.
Physically fit and capable of safely lifting and moving heavy loads.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory records.
Basic computer skills to enter data and navigate inventory management systems.
Strong communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to warehouse operations.
Forklift or other relevant certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
