Our client is one of the UK’s leading Food brands. The Food Industry is very fast paced, demanding, and constantly developing, therefore the people the company looks to join them have a great personality and the drive to exceed the customers’ expectations.

A new vacancy has arisen to join the company’s busy team, the role available is a Storeman – Forklift Driver and is situated in Shetland – a more specific location is available on the application. The Storeman – Forklift Driver is responsible for the efficient running of the store.

The Role:
• Manoeuvring forklifts safely in a busy factory environment.
• Safely stacking cages & pallets of fresh & frozen products.
• Moving goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport.
• Unloading deliveries and safely reloading the goods to their designated storage areas.
• Ensure forklift areas are free from spills or obstructions.
• Regularly checking forklift equipment for faults or damage.
• Keeping up to date on health & safety requirements & forklift operating procedures.

The Candidate:
• Industrial driving skills & the correct licences to safely & legally operate forklifts in the factory are required.
• Good spatial awareness, attention to detail and the physical ability to perform manual labour.
• Ability to work long shifts.
• Ability to communicate and work well in a team with other staff.
• Knowledge of factory health & safety requirements.
• Knowledge of industrial storage procedures, such as the correct way to stack pallets.

Knowledge and Experience:
• Experience of using a computerised purchasing and stock control systems is preferred but not essential.
• Proficient in English and have a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
• Forklift licence and/or experience of driving forklifts is essential.
