Our client, one of Scotland’s premier food manufacturers is seeking a SHE Manager.
The Safety, Health & Environmental Manager is seen as a pivotal role within the business, responsible for driving cultural change in health, safety and environmental awareness through the involvement, engagement and empowerment of people to deliver improvements in the HS&E agenda.
With your engaging style and excellent understanding of Health, Safety & Environment you will be responsible for ensuring that best practice standards are developed and maintained on site. Your expertise will allow you to continually provide advice and guidance. Continuous improvement is championed, with the opportunity to identify improvements and learning needs across the business. Crucially, you will be a real team player with excellent communication skills, who can build and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike.
Be a full-time member of the site management team and be actively involved in the effective operation of the site.
Accountable for developing and implementing the business Health and safety strategy in collaboration with the wider operations team
Accountable for developing and implementing the businesses environmental strategy in collaboration with the executive leadership team, in alignment for the business purpose, vision and values
Responsible for driving a safety-first culture
Accountable for 100% compliance with health and safety legislation
Lead the development of site risk management processes to ensure compliance to relevant legislation, corporate standards, policies and targets
Accountable for ensuring that employees are appropriately trained against H&S and environment practices, sourcing and co-ordinating training such as first aid, fire marshal, managing safely and manual handling
A credible leader with an engaging and influential style contributing to the leadership on the site Driving a safety culture through recognised channels
Ability to delegate and inspire others to take responsibility for HS&E
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to quickly establish credibility, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external)
Experience in a Health & Safety role within manufacturing (ideally FMCG)
NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
Excellent understanding of all aspects of Health, Safety & Environment (including legislation, audit handling and management systems)
IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or Foundation level is preferable however, experience of working on a permitted site or knowledge of environmental systems would be considered
Able, and prepared, to make significant decisions in a timely manner, challenging when appropriate
