Job Description

Our client, one of the leading companies in the world in food, environmental, pharmaceutical and cosmetics testing has informed us of an opening at one of their sites in the Central belt of Scotland. They’re looking for a strong minded, practical laboratory leader to join the team and take full liability of the P&L management alongside the execution of strategic and operational plans.

Job roles and responsibilities

• Manage the site Business Unit alongside the companies’ motives, acting as a highly influential figure within the team ensuring all others follow accordingly.
• Ensure development, control, implementation and CI of compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and accreditation.
• Push the successful natural growth of the Business Unit, also maintaining the highest industry standards and probability.
• Involved in the preparation of the yearly budget and the 3-year financial plan.
• Maximise continuous improvement, use LEAN methodologies and effectively use IT to improve efficiency.
• Engage with key clients by working alongside other managers and establish cross selling synergies with other areas of the company.
• Analyse capacity and the options to integrate the workload from forecasted 3 to 5-year growth targets and create a site growth plan.

Candidate Expectations

• BSc or 3+ years in a relevant position.
• Clear understanding of ISO, UKAS and audit procedures & methods.
• Strong driver for Continuous Improvement.
• Comprehensive technical understanding of Microbiology, relevant legislations and industry standards.
• Possess excellent people skills – being a successful leader and cost reduction focused.
• Knowledge of Microbiology labs and understanding the key elements a business in this sector involves.
