My client is a medium sized Seafood Manufacturing Business, situated in the Scottish Highlands. They are looking for a technical manager to join their growing operation and become a valued member of the technical team and Business operation as a whole.
SHIFT: Mon - Fri rotating to Tue - Sat
SALARY: £34k + pension + Bonus
Main Purpose of the Role
The Technical Services Manager working as part of the Technical team will ensure that the internal and external stakeholders of the business are kept up to date with accurate and timely reports and analysis of Technical KPI data and Food Safety and Quality information.
They are also responsible for the approval of external supply partners including conducting second party auditing and managing the Technical Services Team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in the site HACCP process as part of the site HACCP team.
Participating and compiling data in regards to project work.
Undertaking Internal Audits and Inspections as part of the site Internal Audit team.
Investigating Food Safety or Quality issues as required.
Performing data analysis and reporting on Microbiological testing results for Product, Raw materials and Environmental areas in a timely manner
Preparation of third party non – Waitrose customer specifications (e.g. Highland Bay).
Manage the internal specification process requirements with the assistance of the Technical Services Administrator (e.g. Short Product Specifications, Bulk Product Specifications and Intake Specifications).
Participate in the Artwork approval and sign off process alongside NPD and Logistics.
·Ensuring that product testing schedules are completed, results analysed and reports issued to stakeholders.
Management of the service provision for the Technical department.
·Managing the Technical Services Administrator and Technical Assistant.
Develop reporting staff to the level where he/she must be able to deputies effectively and efficiently
·Monitoring the performance of partners working for them and provide guidance when required.
To undertake probation reviews, periodic performance review, provide guidance when required
Undertake exit interview and monitor turnover
To ensure that the technical partners are suitably trained for the assigned job
Maintain disciplines among the reporting partners in terms of holiday planning, unplanned absence and cross functional cooperation and team work
To demonstrate good levels of resilience to keep the working environment in healthy state
Motivate the reporting partners to share ideas for improvement and report non-conformities without any hesitation or fear
Suppliers and Customers:
Management of Pest control services to all sites.
Advising on the selection of service providers for the Technical department.
External Supplier Auditing.
Responsible for maintaining the Supplier information files, ensuring that all required information is current and working with Logistics and NPD on Supplier approval.
Managing the site VACCP & Horizon Scanning Systems working with aquaculture and logistics on emerging issues.
Supplier contact for quality and technical issues.
Attending quarterly customer reviews or events representing the Aquascot Technical function.
Documenting, recording and assisting with third party audits to site.
Main point of contact for the external third party laboratory.
Management of supplier and site files on customer portals.
Investigation and upload of results in regards to customer out of specification surveillance reporting
Advising and sign off of company technical policies, procedures and work instructions in conjunction with the wider technical team overseen by the site Compliance Manager.
Compiling and training of site work instructions in regards to the third party laboratory registration and result systems.
Managing the site environmental monitoring (e.g. Water Sampling & Environmental swabbing schedules) and maintain the environmental monitoring risk assessment.
Managing the site plans required for the site FSQMS system.
With the assistance of the Technical Services Administrator, ensuring that all Customer complaints are recorded, analyzed, reported and investigated where necessary.
Analyzing Customer complaints and reporting trends or anomalies
Carrying out Supplier and Ingredient Risk assessments.
Advising as part of the wider team in regards to the site food safety culture
Prepare and present technical budget for the following year and monitor the approved version regularly for variance
Food Safety data analysis & reporting.
Internal and External KPI Reporting.
Compiling. Trending and presenting Farming Partner KPI Information.
With the assistance of the Technical Services Administrator and Technical Assistant, ensuring timely and accurate completion & submission of Customer KPI reports.
Compiling reports for customer reviews, leadership team meetings and Aquaculture Hub events.
Providing data to and assisting the aquaculture team where required in regards to the trending of RMQA data and reports received from Hub customers.
Compiling alongside the Compliance manager the monthly technical team briefs.
