Assistant Technical Manager, Central Scotland

Our client is a privately owned multi-site food manufacturer. From their largest manufacturing site they are seeking an Assistant Technical Manager.
Spending 70% of their time in the production environment, they will manage their QC teams across all shifts to ensure that all customer and Brand specifications are met in full. As part of this, they will develop, improve and implement all quality assurance record keeping and customer facing technical Safety and Quality Systems at the site. This will also encompass the implementation of brand protection and new legislative changes. As an expert in customer quality requirements and systems management, and as part of their customer-facing role, they will deputise for the Technical manager.
Customer Complaint analysis
Manage reports to suit business and customer needs
Effectively communicate customer issues and implement solutions in conjunction with procurement and operations staff
investigate customer complaints in an effective, appropriate, and timely manner
Ensure cost reconciliation is accurately managed with customers and site accounts
DEVELOP and MANAGE training and resources
Ensure effective knowledge of customer quality systems
Create and maintain training records for customer systems on Q pulse across all sites
Identify training needs and make recommendations/ train colleagues across all sites where appropriate.
LEAD Customer Audits
With support from the technical manager, assist customer factory visits and audits.
Take all action points and communicate effectively both internally and externally
Ensure all agreed action points are addressed in a timely manner
Communicate all customer requirements and feedback in an effective manner at all levels within the company as appropriate, including written, verbal and presentations as appropriate
Update business on changes to customer requirements
Sign off customer ‘Date and Memo Sheet’ on a weekly basis and issue.
Sign-off all customer own brand packaging for technical and legal requirements
Provide support in systems management where appropriate for other business facilities. This includes Specification, technical policies, quality, and depot QC systems
Ensure all aspects of customer systems are up-to-date and signed off on Q Pulse as appropriate and manage T2 KPI’s
Educated to a high level (degree preferred) in a science related discipline
Experience of Customer/ retail systems
Food safety/ HACCP level 3 minimum or equivalent
Good working standard of Microsoft office.
Experience in quality assurance/ quality control/ environmental standards/ organic production systems
Pleasant manner; Good team worker, Practical and pragmatic with a positive “can do” attitude
What’s on offer?
• A starting salary of up to £28,000.
• 31 days annual leave, inclusive of statutory.
• Contributory pension.
• Monday to Friday 08.00 – 16.30 working hours.
