Formulation Technologist
Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: 8.30am – 5pm Monday to Friday
Reporting To: Technical Manager

I’m currently working with a global supplier of ingredients and flavors solutions to the food, beverage and nutrition industries. They supply to major food manufacturers in Europe and worldwide and they have a fantastic reputation for quality and service.
As part of their continued success, they’re looking for a Formulation Technologist for their manufacturing site in Kent.

Key Responsibilities
• Support the technical and sales team in new and existing projects for formulation
• Develops premix formulations for customer requirements in line with customer and business requirements
• Formulations to be sent back to quotation team for pricing within specified timelines
• Build expertise on functional ingredients, nutrients to be kept up to date on market trends
• Translate customer requests into formulation system and enquire any necessary information from account managers or customers
• Support RM substitution in formulations
• Provide Technical support to all sections of the business
• Support other departments for customer, ISO, FSSC, Kosher and Halal audits if requested
• Provide technical inputs for supplier raw material approval
• New premix recipe development, identifying and delivering innovative solutions to customers
• Support sales team on technical issues/discussions with customers
• To have good understanding and knowledge of all products sold (premix blends and straight ingredients), in order to provide input to all requests for technical, nutritional and labelling information
• Provide inputs for improvements of the internal formulation system software
• Active participation in delivery of internal projects
• Provide support for customer questionnaires where needed

Requirements/Competencies
• Knowledge of Vitamin & Mineral Industry and / or nutrition
• Knowledge of food and industry related legislations would be an advantage, especially vitamin, minerals or nutrition
• Able to understand customer requests and translate them accurately
• Ability to innovate and find creative and practical solutions to complex problems and to exploit new opportunities
• Very organized and methodical, ability to priorities, juggle multiple tasks adhere to tight deadlines
• Ability to work autonomously, fast learner, willing to take initiative
• Able to build relationships and happy to share knowledge with colleagues ensuring collaboration and business partnering
• Actively seeks to keep professional expertise up to date, to acquire new skills and knowledge and to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business

Training & Future Development
The business are very proactive business when it comes to personnel development. The individual will receive internal and external training as required based on experience.

Salary up to £35,000
